How We Work

We start with you. We want to understand the way you live and work and form a detailed understanding of the requirements for your new building. Budget is of course very important too.

After these initial discussions we survey the ground and work up designs. We’re proud of the innovative ideas we bring to using space efficiently. We think a great deal about flow – how people will interact with space and move through it. Sometimes simple internal alterations or a cheaper roof or garage conversion will do a better job than a more complex extension.

We are thorough and detailed. Along with design we consider views, noise, security, the position of trees, site access, soil type and neighbouring buildings. The better the brief - the better the final result.

Once we’ve discussed our ideas and taken on your feedback we prepare detailed drawings, design and access statements for planning approval. Liaising and negotiation with Planning and Conservation officers is a crucial part of our work. We have strong relationships with local planning officers, building control surveyors, structural engineers, arboriculturists, quantity surveyors and building contractors. Once we have approval, we move to full construction drawings and specifications and timeframes.

We prefer to stay involved right through to completion, making sure work is to time, cost and standard. We help with selecting contractors and draw up the building contract. We include reviews and approvals as we go.

We understand the need for flexibility too. We’re really experienced in striking the balance between keeping costs under control and taking advantage of new ideas during the build.

Toward the end of the build we make detailed snagging lists and check for defects. Finally, we issue Certificates of Completion and manage the handover of to you.

“Whether you’re a seasoned developer or this is your first ever build, we’ll be with you every step of the way.”
